Family Portraits

It makes me so happy to be asked to photograph your family and your important family milestones. Family portrait sessions can be taken in the studio or on-location in a local beauty spot, or even in your home. Getting your family together for this type of session is a great way to create really authentic images for you to cherish and pass down the generations to come.

Typically, my indoor studio sessions will consist of flattering posing and studio lighting to create those beautiful and classic fine art portraits seen in my portfolio. I aim to really get to know you and your family while you visit the studio as it will help put you all at ease and really show your personalities within your final images. All of my sessions are friendly and relaxed, and so can also include a few informal poses and interactions between you all so there is a variety of different images to choose from after your session.

My outdoor and in-home family sessions are usually always more candid and natural, with very little time spent on traditional, posed images. During this time, I will spend around an hour with you and your family, encouraging you to interact naturally while I snap away to capture those truly intimate and beautiful moments between you.

I also advertise for themed & seasonal mini sessions throughout the year. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for themes, prices and availability. Past seasonally-themed mini sessions have included Christmas, strawberry picking, mummy & me, pumpkin patch, and autumnal leafy walks.

£50 Session fee is not included in the package prices. This fee covers studio or location time with an experienced photographer and personalised set-up, location scouting or travel time. This is to be paid upon booking.

Image packages start from £149.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAMILY SESSIONS

When should I book my session?

The best thing about family portrait sessions is that they can be taken all year round, although I usually book my outdoor sessions for April-August when the weather is a bit warmer. It's always best to get in touch with me as soon as you know you'd like a family portrait session as my diary does get very busy. So between my weekly newborn and child studio sessions and my summer wedding bookings, I want to make sure I have a session space available for you!

What can I expect from my session?

This type of session can take anywhere from 1-2 hours for an outdoor session and around 1 hour for a studio session. This is due to the fact that outdoor sessions will be spent naturally interacting and playing with each other, and possibly walking around the location as I photograph you. As the studio session is inside in one location the time is shorter, but in both circumstances I hope to create a friendly and relaxed environment for you all and so will never rush your session. I have trained in the art of lighting and posing, so you can be confident I will only ever pose you in a flattering way. I have tea, coffee, and snacks in the studio to help entertain your family while we're creating gorgeous photos of you all, and I also have a few outfits to for women and children to choose from.

How do I prepare for my session?

On the day of your session please refrain from wearing any tight underwear as this will leave marks on your skin for your photos. Some mamas choose to have their hair and make up done before their shoot, although this is entirely up to you as I can enhance your natural features in post-processing too.

What do I need to bring?

If you'd like to include any personal items, feel free to bring those along! But other than that, just bring yourselves!

Can I take photos?

if there is someone not being photographed who wants to take a few behind the scenes photos, they're more than welcome (as I love to see and post those on my social media too!), but make sure that those BTS photos do not impede on the shots I am being paid to take of you.

Who can be included in the photos?

As many adults, children or pets as you like! just make sure to let me know how many people are being photographed and everyone's ages so I am aware in advance as it will change my posing workflow.

What should we wear for our photos?

I always say it is best to stick to neutral colours without any big patterns, prints or logos. When we are discussing your session I can point you in the direction of my Pinterest which has plenty of inspiration for your family outfits. For your outfit(s), I do have plenty of gowns in the studio to choose from, which can be colour changed in post-processing if you require a slightly different colour for your session. I also have a few outfits for children, ranging from newborn size to aged 10.

How do I choose my photos?

After your session I will choose the best 15 or so images with some basic editing to the colours and background etc, but no full skin retouching yet. Around a week after your session I will invite you back into the studio to look through your final images and discuss which 5, 10, or 15 you'd like to purchase.

How long does it take for my photos to be ready?

Once you have returned to the studio to choose your favourite images, your final edits should take around 1-2 weeks. During this time I will be retouching your hair, skin and clothes by hand myself to make sure everything is perfect for your final images. I will also order your prints, which take up to 2 working days, and your wall art which takes up to 10 working days to be delivered.

"I would highly recommend Paige Edge Photography, she’s so adorable and we felt so comfy in her studio... she’s amazing at her job. We enjoyed the photos with our little prince. Big thank you!"
