For this week's blog post, let me start by saying: Happy International Women's Day 2021!
Growing up in a family of open-minded, strong-willed women, I have always been fortunate enough to understand the importance of creating a world free from prejudice, inequality, violence, and unfair stereotypes - for both men and women! In particular, my mum and grandma (and great-grandma!) have instilled the view that our lives should be peaceful, without bias, and with opportunities for all, and for the most part we've definitely come a long way! I mean, how often have we watched old films or seen old advertisements from the '50s and cringed at the female stereotypes? In our modern world we are gradually bringing more and more women into roles of power and influence - and that is fantastic!
Sometimes women can have it tough; some receive pressure to start a family, some receive criticism for having children too young or too old, some receive backlash for going back to work after having kids (or not going back to work after having kids), but gals - I'm proud of you whichever you choose! You are strong and fierce!
So what better way to celebrate the women who came before us, than spoiling them rotten this Mother's Day? Let's celebrate all that being a mother is - whichever form that takes!
